Within the framework of our Final Flag-Raising Ceremony, held on November 14, 2025, the educational community of Gimnasio José Joaquín Casas experienced a moment of deep emotion and institutional significance. The General Director, Jaime Enrique Leal Melo, officially announced changes in the school’s leadership, marking the beginning of a new chapter in our history.

Gratitude and Recognition for Principal Mauricio Cabrera

With words of profound appreciation, the General Directorate bid farewell to Principal Mauricio Cabrera, who has decided to close his chapter at the institution to pursue personal projects. During his tenure, Principal Mauricio stood out for his vision and leadership, contributing innovative ideas and an unwavering commitment that undoubtedly led José Joaco to new and higher standards of excellence.

We wish him the greatest success in his new endeavors, always carrying the seal of our community.

A New Chapter: Welcome to Principal Sandra Rocío Camacho Peña

The ceremony also served as the setting for a historic announcement: the appointment of teacher Sandra Rocío Camacho Peña as the new Principal of our institution. Her designation recognizes her commitment, loyalty, and vocation, demonstrated throughout 11 years of service at the school.

The General Director highlighted her exemplary professional growth within the institution, where she has excelled as: Classroom Teacher, Department Head, Academic Director, and now, as the first woman to assume the role of Principal.

To our new Principal, affectionately called “Sandrita” by students and parents, we extend the warmest welcome in this new role. Her journey represents not only professional growth, but also the continuity of an educational project she knows and deeply loves.

We are confident that under her guidance, José Joaco will continue on this path of strengthening and growth, always contributing to the development of a better society.

We wish you great success in your leadership, Principal Sandra!
